Back From Nebraska  Comments ( 0 )

Well, we got back from Nebraska late Saturday night and I am just now getting caught up with putting everything away for next year. Still haven’t decided if I am going to do one last craft show or not for the year. We have the Girl Scouts “See and Sell” in November. I usually do it, but have not decided on it yet.

My Summer Mini Swap Quilt  Comments ( 3 )

Ok, here is my Summer Mini Quilt that I made for the swap. My nemesis the binding…UGH! One of these days I will be good at it and one day my DH will make me a place to hang them to take pictures so that they don’t look ish wonky! Anyways, I hope the recipient likes what they are about to receive…Ah, and just a hint…she knows me…sort of. LOL

Summer Time Mini Quilt Swap  Comments ( 1 )

I received a very beautiful paper pieced mini quilt from Kim Arth. She has posted a picture on her blog at Sassy Stitcher. My son loves the mini quilt as well. He thought it was for him, so we hung it up in his room.

Thank you Kim! It is very beautiful.

I will be posting pictures of my own mini quilt later today. It should be reaching its new home sometime this week.

Have a very Quilty Day!

Christmas Cottage Block Swap  Comments ( 1 )

I am officially announcing a Christmas Cottage Block Swap. I have seen some block swaps of this sort, however, this is a paper pieced swap.

I have posted a file and a downloadable pattern on the “All About Paper Piecing” Network. The following are the rules. If you have any questions please contact me at RGQuiltDesigns@gmail.com.

1. You will need to join the “All About Paper Piecing” Network that I have set up. It is free and is a network for paper piecer’s with a wealth of information and a connection to others who love to paper piece. It is also a great place for beginners to start.

2. Click on Forum and then on the topic “Christmas Cottage Swap”.

3. Send me: Tina Reed a message with your name and mailing information.

4. Sign up ends on Oct 15, 2009. The deadline to mail your blocks out is Nov 15, 2009.

5. Make some Cottage Blocks!

6. Wait by your mailbox and see what comes in and make a beautiful Christmas Quilt!

Groups will be divided into 12 or 13 for each group. The only fabric requirement is that you use Christmas Fabric. I have put up a picture of a block on the Network as has one other member. This could be a really fun exchange and turn into something more. I would like to get a group who would like to do a 12 month Cottage Block swap. A different Cottage block for each month made with fabric pertaining to a Holiday in that month. If we have less than 12 sign up for this swap I will divide us into groups accordingly and we can make a table runner or something smaller.

I would love to see us get a great group of quilters together that share the love of paper piecing and show others how much fun it can be too! So, come join us…even if you are a beginner. I am going to be putting up a video tutorial on this block along with all the pattern information. Let’s make some Cottages!

Have a very Quilty Day!

Christmas Paper Pieced Swap  Comments ( 0 )

I have broached the subject of a paper pieced blocked swap on my All About Paper Piecing Network. If you are interested come to the Network and check it out. I think it would be fun.

I am finishing up a post card swap and mini quilt swap. I then also got into another block swap. Boy, if I knew what the last month was going to hold for us, I probably would not have signed up for most of it…but, alas, I did and I so enjoy doing them. I will probably not do anymore swaps until after next year, unless they are paper pieced.

I would really like to get some going on All About Paper Piecing Network and concentrate on more patterns. I have been working on a few new patterns…but they are not as far as I would like them to be. Time to buckle down and get working again.

Have a very Quilty Day!

I Can’t Believe It  Comments ( 0 )

I can’t believe it has almost been a month for me without posting. It seems so much has happened in a whirlwind that I didn’t even realized I had put so much on hold for this long.

We had been waiting on information on our nephew, who was in Afghanistan and got injured. The waiting, the wondering…all of it seems to have taken up our lives in entirely. Now, he is home and is okay…well, as okay as can be expected at this time. Everything just seemed to stop and stand still.

Now, that we know he is going to be okay…I am so far behind that I can’t seem to figure out where to start. I apologize to those that I have not answered or gotten back to…I have meant to…but it just seems that time has gotten away from me. I have a quilt show this coming weekend in Topeka and will be in my quilt room all week trying to make sure that I have everything ready to go. I am not a procrastinator by nature. But it sure seems that I have been one this past month.

There are other things that have also been going on during this time, but all is now better and should be back on track within the next couple of weeks. The 2-130 Field Artillery has landed in Egypt and are gearing to go into full swing there. I will be hit and miss for awhile after the quilt show in Nebraska to work on the quilts for them. I have had some wonderful donations and appreciate everyones time and donations. I do have a few more quilt tops put together that I will get posted up.

Again, I apologize for the time lapse. I hope you are all having a wonderful time quilting.

Have a very Quilty Day!
